MAINTENANCE / CLEANING OF PVC CARPENTRY

Windows and doors are the defining elements of a home.
To prevent deterioration or premature aging of PVC joinery, we offer you some essential tips:

  • The profiles must not be scratched and must never be painted.
    Their washing will be done with water and ordinary detergents, without using abrasive substances. The movements must be easy and along the profile. The cleaning solution must be left to act for a few minutes, after which the profile will be wiped with a wet cloth. In the case of a greater degree of dirt, the cleaning will be done either by repeating the previously described operation, or by applying the cleaning substance directly on the profile and letting it act for a longer time. It should be taken into account that circular wiping movements are not recommended. The PVC carpentry should not be wiped "dry" because, as the profiles are made of plastic, they will become electrified and favor the deposition of dust.
  • No acidic substances.
    Do not use petroleum-based substances (petrol, gas, acetone, thinner, etc.), acidic substances, cleaning powder, and sharp tools or tools that can scratch the profile, such as wire sponges, for cleaning.
  • Cleaning the glass
    The window glass can be cleaned using a soft cloth and appropriate glass cleaning solutions, but not based on alcohol because it leaves traces that attract dust.
  • Do not use blades or sharp objects.

  • Gasket cleaning
    The gaskets must be checked regularly, they must not be covered with paint, and their cleaning will be done once every 6 months, without using abrasive substances.
  • In the case of renovation
    In the case of renovation of buildings, hardware and fittings must be protected from the aggressive action of mortar components (lime, cement, sand, dust, etc.). In order to protect it, you can use a resistant film made of plastic material to completely cover the carpentry elements.
